Forney, Texas — A homicide investigation is underway after a person was fatally shot inside a home on Sunday afternoon in what authorities believe was a targeted attack. Investigators are now searching for two suspects who fled the scene, urging anyone with information to come forward as the case remains active.
Police Respond to Fatal Shooting Inside Forney Home
According to the Forney Police Department, officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Eagle Ridge Road after reports of a shooting on Sunday afternoon.
When officers arrived, they found one person dead inside the home. Authorities have not yet publicly identified the victim or released additional details about what may have led to the shooting.
The investigation remains in its early stages as detectives continue gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses.
Investigators Believe Attack Was Targeted
Based on the preliminary investigation, police said they do not believe the shooting was random.
Instead, investigators say the evidence indicates the victim was specifically targeted. Officials have not disclosed what relationship, if any, the suspects may have had with the victim or what motive may have been behind the deadly attack.
Police have also not said whether anyone else was inside the home when the shooting occurred.
Two Suspects Still on the Run
Authorities have released descriptions of two men believed to be connected to the shooting and are asking residents to remain alert.
According to police, investigators are searching for:
- A Black man approximately 6 feet to 6 feet 1 inch tall, wearing all black clothing.
- A lighter-skinned Black man, also described as tall, wearing a gray shirt and a black mask.
Police believe the suspects left the area in a vehicle shortly after the shooting, although investigators have not released a description of that vehicle.
At this time, authorities have not announced any arrests or identified the suspects by name.
Community Asked to Help Investigation
As the search continues, the Forney Police Department is asking anyone who may have seen individuals matching the suspects’ descriptions or noticed suspicious activity near Eagle Ridge Road on Sunday to contact investigators.
Even small details could prove valuable as detectives work to determine exactly what happened and locate those responsible.
Officials have not indicated whether they believe there is an ongoing threat to the public but continue to encourage residents to remain vigilant while the investigation progresses.
