United States — Consumers with Outshine Fruit Bars in their freezers are being urged to check their packages after Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream announced a voluntary recall involving several popular frozen fruit bar varieties.
The recall was announced Saturday after the company discovered that certain products could potentially contain glass, creating a serious safety concern for anyone who may have purchased the affected treats.
The recalled products were distributed to retailers nationwide in 6-count boxes containing 2.5-ounce paddle-shaped fruit bars.
Five Fruit Bar Flavors Are Affected
According to the company’s recall announcement, five varieties are included in the recall:
- Outshine Strawberry
- Outshine Watermelon
- Outshine Grape
- Outshine Tangerine
- Outshine Black Cherry
Consumers should not assume that every package of these flavors is affected.
Instead, customers are being advised to carefully check the UPC and batch or date information printed on the bottom of the package to determine whether their specific product is included.
Check These Product Codes and Dates
The recalled Strawberry fruit bars have UPC 041548610047 and best-by dates of September 30, October 31 or November 30, 2027.
The affected Watermelon bars carry UPC 041548413624 and have best-by dates of June 30 or July 31, 2027.
Consumers with Tangerine bars should look for UPC 041548612041 and a best-by date of October 31, 2027. Two different Grape products are also included.
One affected Grape variety has UPC 041548244044 and best-by dates of September 30 or October 31, 2027. Another carries UPC 041548000121 with a best-by date of July 31, 2027.
The recall announcement also identifies Black Cherry among the affected varieties, so consumers should check the package information carefully rather than relying solely on the flavor name.
What Consumers Should Do With Recalled Bars
Anyone who discovers an affected product in their freezer should not eat it. The company advises consumers to discard the recalled fruit bars or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Consumers should also avoid tasting or handling the product in a way that could create an additional risk if glass contamination is suspected.
At the time of the announcement, no injuries or illnesses had been reported in connection with the recalled products.
However, the company urged anyone who believes they may have been harmed after consuming a potentially affected product to seek guidance from a medical professional immediately.
Company Apologizes to Customers
Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream said consumer safety remains its highest priority as it works to address the issue.
“The safety, quality, and integrity of our products remain our highest priority,” the company said, while apologizing for the inconvenience caused to consumers and retailers.
The company also reiterated its commitment to maintaining high food safety and quality standards and earning the trust of its customers. Consumers with additional questions about the recall can contact Dreyer’s at [email protected].
For shoppers who regularly keep frozen fruit bars on hand, checking the bottom of the package is an important step before eating any of the affected products.
Because the recalled items were distributed through retailers across the country, consumers in any state could potentially have purchased one of the affected packages.
