Washington, D.C. — General Mills has announced a nationwide recall involving more than 735,000 Pillsbury frozen bread rolls after concerns that some products could contain glass fragments, prompting a food safety alert from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recall affects specific lots of Pillsbury Hard Roll Dough and Pillsbury Kaiser Roll Dough products that were distributed to multiple states across the country.
According to the FDA, the recall was officially classified as a Class II recall on July 13, indicating that use of the affected products could result in temporary or medically reversible health consequences, although the risk of serious health effects is considered lower than in a Class I recall.
Which Pillsbury Products Are Being Recalled?
The recall includes 3,080 cases of Pillsbury Hard Roll Dough, with 180 units per case.
The affected products carry “Better if Used by” dates of October 12, 2026, and October 13, 2026, along with lot numbers 11JUN6JL and 12JUN6JL.
Also included are 1,260 cases of Pillsbury Kaiser Roll Dough, packaged with 144 units per case.
Those products have a “Better if Used by” date of October 13, 2026, and lot number 12JUN6JL. Combined, the recalled inventory represents approximately 735,840 frozen bread rolls.
Products Were Distributed Across 19 States
According to the FDA, the recalled products were distributed in the following states:
Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming.
Officials have not announced whether any injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.
The recall was initiated as a precaution after concerns that the products may contain glass, which could pose a potential injury risk if consumed.
What Consumers Should Do
Anyone who purchased the affected Pillsbury frozen dough products should check the package’s lot number and “Better if Used by” date to determine whether it is included in the recall.
Consumers are advised not to prepare or consume recalled products if they match the affected information.
Customers should instead follow the recall instructions provided by the retailer or manufacturer regarding disposal or available refunds.
Businesses that purchased the products should also remove any affected inventory from distribution or sale.
Recall Comes Amid Recent Food Safety Alerts
The Pillsbury recall follows several other recent food safety actions announced by federal regulators.
Most recently, the FDA upgraded the recall of certain Utz Quality Foods potato chips to its highest risk classification after concerns they could pose a serious health risk if contaminated with salmonella.
