Oak Ridge Gets a Major Healthcare Boost as Atrium Health Opens New Urgent Care Clinic With 7-Day Walk-In Services

OAK RIDGE, N.C. — Residents in Oak Ridge and nearby communities now have a new option for urgent medical care following the opening of a new Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist urgent care clinic.

The new facility is designed to expand access to care for patients across northwestern Guilford County and eastern Forsyth County, giving residents a convenient location for medical issues that require attention but may not warrant a trip to a hospital emergency department.

New Oak Ridge Clinic Opens for Walk-In Care

The new urgent care center is located at 8001-A Marketplace Drive in Oak Ridge. Patients can visit without an appointment, making the clinic an option for people who need prompt medical attention during the week or over the weekend.

According to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, the clinic is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The extended daily schedule is intended to provide patients with more flexibility when unexpected illnesses or injuries occur outside the hours of a traditional primary care appointment.

Wide Range of Minor Illness and Injury Services

The clinic will treat a variety of minor illnesses and injuries, allowing patients to receive care for common health concerns without necessarily having to visit an emergency department.

Available services include treatment for minor cuts, burns and skin rashes, as well as simple fractures and sprains. Medical staff can also perform certain minor procedures, including stitches, when appropriate.

For patients experiencing symptoms associated with common respiratory infections, the clinic offers testing for flu, COVID-19, RSV and strep throat.

Testing, X-Rays and Other Medical Services Available

In addition to examinations and treatment, the Oak Ridge location provides several diagnostic services.

Patients can receive X-rays at the clinic, which can be useful when evaluating injuries such as suspected fractures. The facility also offers lab testing, including blood work, giving medical providers access to additional information when assessing a patient’s condition.

Prescriptions may also be provided when medically appropriate, depending on the patient’s diagnosis and treatment needs.

New Option for Patients in the Oak Ridge Area

The opening gives residents in northwestern Guilford County and eastern Forsyth County another avenue for accessing healthcare close to home.

Urgent care clinics can play an important role for patients who need timely attention for conditions that are not life-threatening but still require medical evaluation. The new Oak Ridge location’s seven-day schedule may also help patients seek care when their regular doctor’s office is closed.

With services ranging from illness testing to minor injury treatment and diagnostic imaging, the new facility provides a broad selection of urgent care options under one roof.
