Idaho Falls, Idaho — A road rage confrontation near an elementary school in eastern Idaho ended with a woman allegedly being dragged and pinned between two vehicles, leading to felony charges against a 49-year-old driver. Authorities say the incident unfolded after two motorists stopped to confront each other following a dispute on the road.
Road Rage Dispute Escalated After Drivers Pulled Over
According to investigators, the incident happened around 7:35 p.m. on July 24 near Linden Park Elementary School in Idaho Falls.
Police responding to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle quickly located a Subaru matching the description provided by witnesses and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver, identified as Manuel Ibarra Jr., 49, allegedly admitted he had been involved in a road rage encounter but gave officers his version of what happened.
According to court documents, Ibarra claimed another driver cut him off while turning onto a street and then intentionally slammed on the brakes in front of him to provoke him.
Police said Ibarra told officers he asked the other driver whether he wanted to “pull over,” and both vehicles stopped on the side of the road.
Drivers Offer Conflicting Versions of Events
Ibarra told investigators that after both vehicles stopped, the other driver got out of his vehicle and jumped onto the hood of the Subaru, causing damage.
Officers observed scuff marks, cracks in the windshield, and shoe prints on the passenger side of the Subaru that appeared consistent with his account.
However, the second driver gave police a very different version of events.
According to the affidavit, the unnamed driver claimed Ibarra was actually the one who cut him off before both vehicles pulled over.
He alleged that after stepping out of their vehicle, Ibarra drove directly toward him and his wife. The husband told officers he managed to jump onto the roof of the Subaru to avoid being struck.

Woman Allegedly Dragged and Pinned Between Vehicles
Police say the man’s wife was unable to escape in time.
According to investigators, she reported that her left arm was caught and dragged by the Subaru, leaving her pinned between her husband’s vehicle and Ibarra’s vehicle.
She complained of pain in her left arm while officers were still at the scene. Investigators also learned the woman had been talking on the phone when the alleged collision occurred.
The person on the other end of the call later told police they suddenly heard the woman scream before the call abruptly disconnected, a detail investigators included in the probable cause affidavit.
Driver Charged With Two Felony Counts
Following the investigation, authorities arrested Manuel Ibarra Jr. on two counts of aggravated battery.
He was booked into the Bonneville County Jail before later posting a $30,000 bond, securing his release. Court records show that his next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 11.
The allegations against Ibarra remain pending in court, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. As the case moves forward, investigators and prosecutors will continue reviewing evidence, including witness statements and physical damage to the vehicles, to determine exactly how the confrontation unfolded.
