Anaheim, California — Disneyland Resort is preparing for a major transformation, with Disney announcing a series of new attractions, land upgrades and returning entertainment that could reshape the experience for visitors over the next several years.
The company revealed the plans Saturday night during its “Horizons: A Carousel of Progress” Disney Experiences Showcase at D23, giving fans an early look at what’s coming to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.
Among the most significant announcements was a planned reimagining of Tomorrowland, one of Disneyland Park’s most recognizable areas.
Tomorrowland Set for Major Reimagining
Disney says the Tomorrowland project will respect the history and legacy of the original land while creating a new vision for the future.
The transformation is expected to include new attractions, more open spaces and new areas focused on visions of the future. However, Disney has not yet revealed an opening date for the project.
The company also did not specify which existing Tomorrowland attractions could be removed, changed or replaced as part of the overhaul, leaving plenty of questions for Disneyland fans.
More details are expected as planning and development continue.
Avengers Campus Expansion Gets 2028 Opening
Disney also provided a timeline for one of the biggest upcoming expansions at Disney California Adventure. Two new Marvel-themed attractions — Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab — are both scheduled to open in 2028.
The additions are expected to double the size of Avengers Campus, significantly expanding the area dedicated to Marvel characters and stories.
Avengers Infinity Defense will combine large physical sets with expansive media scenes, creating an attraction designed to place guests directly into the Marvel universe.
The experience will also feature appearances by characters portrayed by actors from the Marvel films.
Marvel Stars Returning for Stark Flight Lab
Disney revealed another major detail about Stark Flight Lab, announcing that several Marvel stars will reprise their roles for the attraction.
Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie and Brie Larson are expected to return as their respective Marvel characters. The project is expected to give guests another immersive experience within Avengers Campus as the expanded land takes shape.
With both attractions scheduled for 2028, the Avengers Campus expansion is positioned to become one of the resort’s most significant additions in the coming years.
Disneyland Shows Returning in 2027
While new rides are getting much of the attention, Disney also announced the return of several beloved Disneyland entertainment offerings.
A refreshed version of “Remember… Dreams Come True” is scheduled to return to Disneyland Park beginning in February 2027.
Disney California Adventure will also welcome an updated version of the original “World of Color.” Another popular favorite is expected to make its comeback later in the year.
The “Magic Happens” parade is scheduled to return to Disneyland Park in time for summer 2027, giving visitors another major entertainment option during the busy summer season.
New Coco Attraction Gets More Details
Disney also shared additional information about its previously announced “Coco” attraction coming to Disney California Adventure.
The ride’s storyline will be set one year after the events of the 2017 Pixar film, giving the attraction an opportunity to continue the world and characters introduced in the movie.
Disney also released new renderings offering fans an early look at portions of the attraction, including its queue and one of its scenes.
The new details provide a first glimpse at how the beloved Pixar story could translate into a full theme park experience.
More Disneyland Details Expected
Disney has not yet provided complete opening schedules for every project announced during the showcase. The company is expected to release additional details, construction updates and opening timelines as development progresses.
For Disneyland visitors, the announcements point toward several years of significant change, from a completely reimagined Tomorrowland to an expanded Avengers Campus and the return of some of the resort’s most recognizable entertainment.
With major projects stretching into 2027 and 2028, Disneyland fans have plenty of new experiences to anticipate.
