What began as a routine trip home from a friend’s remote cabin quickly became a story that has reignited interest in one of America’s most enduring mysteries.
Rhode Island dad describes shocking encounter in Connecticut woods
Kevin Klimas said he was leaving a friend’s holiday rental cabin in Voluntown, Connecticut, when a massive, hairy figure suddenly ran across the road near the property’s dirt driveway. Speaking about the encounter, Klimas insisted that what he saw was not a bear, saying the creature stood about 8½ feet tall, moved on two legs, and was covered from head to toe in matted, greasy brown hair.
The unexpected sight left him frozen behind the wheel as the towering figure crossed directly through his headlights before disappearing into the surrounding wilderness.
Among the details that drew attention was Klimas’ observation that the creature showed no visible anatomy indicating whether it was male or female.
“There were no boobs,” Klimas told the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO), a group established in 1995 to investigate reported Sasquatch sightings throughout the United States.
Witness says creature looked unlike any known animal
Klimas offered a detailed description of the alleged creature. According to his account, its legs appeared shorter than its torso, while its unusually long arms extended well past its knees, giving it an estimated 8- to 9-foot wingspan if fully stretched.
He also recalled seeing a cone-shaped head, very little hair on the face, and a human-like walking style. The creature reportedly crossed the road in just two large steps before disappearing into the dense forest.
The witness also joked about one of the most famous Bigfoot debates, referring to the legendary 1967 Patterson-Gimlin film, which many believers cite as evidence of Bigfoot’s existence and appears to show a female creature with prominent breasts.
“If the females are that big, I don’t want to see a male,” Klimas reportedly said.
Investigators rate report as a rare “Class A” sighting
The report was later reviewed by the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, whose investigators considered Klimas’ account credible enough to receive a “Class A” classification.
According to investigator Mike Young, a Class A report indicates investigators believe the witness genuinely observed an unknown creature rather than misidentifying a familiar animal.
Young also noted that Klimas’ description closely matched another reported Sasquatch encounter from October 2019, when a man and his aunt claimed they saw a nearly identical creature not far from the same location.
“This description is almost identical,” Young said while comparing the two reports.
Mystery remains unsolved
Despite the detailed account and the BFRO’s classification, there is still no scientific evidence confirming the existence of Bigfoot. Wildlife experts generally attribute many reported sightings to misidentified bears, optical illusions, poor visibility, or other natural explanations.
Still, stories like Klimas’ continue to capture public attention, especially when they emerge from areas with previous reports of unexplained sightings. Whether viewed as compelling eyewitness testimony or another chapter in Bigfoot folklore, the encounter has once again fueled debate over one of North America’s most famous legends.
