Kissimmee, Florida — A family vacation in Central Florida ended in heartbreak after two 5-year-old twin sisters were found unresponsive in a swimming pool at a vacation rental home and later died despite emergency rescue efforts.
The tragic incident occurred Friday at a home on Ruby Lane in Osceola County, located near Poinciana Boulevard and Oren Brown Road.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the young girls were visiting the area with family members from Georgia when the incident unfolded.
Twins Found Unresponsive in Backyard Pool
Authorities said emergency crews responded after the children were discovered at the bottom of a swimming pool at the vacation property.
The girls were removed from the water and rushed to receive emergency medical treatment.
Due to the severity of the situation, both children were airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando. Despite lifesaving efforts by medical personnel, the twin sisters were later pronounced dead.
Officials have not yet released the identities of the children.
The devastating loss has left family members and investigators searching for answers as authorities continue examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Adults Had Left Property Before Incident
According to information provided by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, four adults who were staying at the vacation home reportedly left the property Friday morning to pick up food.
Investigators said a 15-year-old teenager had been left in charge of supervising the children while the adults were away.
It was during that period that the twins were reportedly found in the pool. Authorities have not released details regarding how long the children may have been in the water before they were discovered.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses to establish a complete timeline of events.

“Unfortunately, this is a tragedy. We want to remind people: pool safety is No. 1 this time of year, and a lot of the drownings and near drowning in the county occur in the rental properties,” Montes said.
Safety experts recommend constant adult supervision around water, secure pool barriers, and multiple layers of protection to help prevent similar incidents.
