San Jose, California — Northern California food lovers are finally getting their chance to try one of the country’s fastest-growing Mediterranean fast-casual chains. Cava has confirmed plans to open its first Northern California restaurant, bringing its customizable bowls, salads, pitas and Mediterranean-inspired flavors to the Bay Area.
The long-awaited expansion is already generating excitement among local fans who have spent years asking the chain to make its way north.
Cava Chooses Santana Row for Northern California Debut
Cava confirmed that its first Northern California location will open at 3055 Olin Avenue, Suite 1035, at Santana Row in San Jose.
The restaurant is expected to open next year, marking a major milestone for the chain as it expands its presence in California. Jeff Gaul, Cava’s chief development officer, told that the company has heard from customers in the region for years.
“We’re thrilled to finally bring Cava to Northern California after years of hearing from passionate fans across the region who have asked us to come their way,” Gaul said.
The Santana Row location will give Bay Area customers their first local opportunity to experience the chain without traveling to other parts of the state.
Two More Bay Area Restaurants Are Planned
Cava’s Northern California expansion will not stop with San Jose.
The company has also confirmed plans for two additional restaurants closer to San Francisco. However, Cava has not yet revealed the exact locations or announced opening dates for those restaurants.
The additional locations suggest the company sees significant potential in the Bay Area and could make its Mediterranean-focused menu available to a much larger Northern California customer base.
For longtime fans, the news comes after years of anticipation and online requests for the restaurant chain to expand into the region.
What Can Bay Area Customers Expect?
Cava is often compared to Chipotle, but with a Mediterranean focus.
Customers can choose from grain bowls, salads and pitas, with ingredients inspired by flavors from across the Mediterranean.
Popular menu choices include the Harissa Avocado Bowl and Greek Chicken Pita, while the chain also offers a selection of signature dips that customers can mix and match with their meals.
Those who prefer more control over their order can build their own bowls, choosing their preferred proteins, vegetables, grains, sauces and toppings.
That customizable format has helped Cava develop a loyal following as consumers look for fast meals that can be tailored to individual tastes.
Bay Area Fans Are Already Celebrating
News of the expansion quickly sparked enthusiastic reactions online.
Some social media users responded simply with “Yes!!!”, while others celebrated with comments such as “Finally” and “About dang time.”

The company also expects its new restaurants to contribute to the local workforce. Each location is expected to employ approximately 25 to 40 workers, creating dozens of new restaurant jobs as the chain expands.
