Virginia Teen Who Built Successful Lemonade Business at 11 Fatally Shot Days After Celebrating High School Graduation

Richmond, Virginia — A Virginia community is mourning the loss of 17-year-old entrepreneur Aubrie Greene, the founder of Breezzy’s Lemonade, after he was fatally shot while driving through a Richmond neighborhood just weeks after graduating from high school.

According to authorities, officers responded to reports of a vehicle crash shortly before 5 p.m. on July 5, where they found Greene suffering from a gunshot wound after his vehicle crashed into a shed outside a home.

Despite medical efforts, Greene later died from his injuries, leaving behind a growing business and a legacy that inspired many young entrepreneurs.

Teen Built Successful Lemonade Business at Just 11 Years Old

Greene began Breezzy’s Lemonade in June 2019, when he was only 11 years old.

According to the company’s biography, the idea started after he wanted to help his brother, who was selling food at a local event but did not have beverages available for customers.

What began as a simple lemonade stand quickly grew into a recognizable local business.

Greene eventually introduced multiple lemonade flavors and expanded into herbal teas, branded clothing, mugs, and other merchandise, while also launching a bright red mobile trailer and a lemon-themed mascot that became closely associated with the brand.

Mother Pays Emotional Tribute to Her Son

Following Greene’s death, his mother, Ceydria McCray, shared an emotional message through the company’s Instagram account, remembering her son and promising to continue the business he worked so hard to build.

“We never imagined Breezy not being here with us. Born Aubrie and in 17 years became a legend in our city King Breezy (CEO) Breezy we miss you so much and there’s many questions as of why.”

She also vowed that his dream would continue.

“Breezy’s Lemonade will go because our job isn’t done. Dare to be different. Dream bigger than your age and keep all lanes clear to it.”

Her message reflected both the family’s grief and their determination to preserve the legacy Greene created at such a young age.

Recent Graduation Marked Major Milestone

Only weeks before the shooting, Greene celebrated another important achievement.

He graduated from Huguenot High School in Richmond on May 26, a milestone proudly shared by Breezzy’s Lemonade on social media.

The post congratulated its young founder and looked ahead to what appeared to be a promising future.

“Our creator and founder graduated today. Breezzy the sky is the limit and it’s only up from here.”
