Wife Was Planning to Escape Her Abusive Husband: Police Found Her Dead Body Beside Him After He Drove Across Several States

Baton Rouge, Louisiana — A routine traffic stop in Memphis reportedly led police to a disturbing discovery after officers allegedly found a Louisiana man’s wife dead in the passenger seat of his vehicle.

According to police and local reports, Tyronne Brazille, 50, was pulled over in downtown Memphis, Tennessee, after a traffic violation. Officers then discovered the body of his 50-year-old wife, Lanessa Bradford, inside the vehicle.

Bradford reportedly had a gunshot wound, and police took Brazille into custody after determining that she was dead. Authorities booked Brazille as a fugitive as the investigation moved forward.

Police Say Man Drove Through Several States

Investigators said Brazille had allegedly been traveling through multiple states with Bradford’s body propped up in the passenger seat. The discovery has left Bradford’s friends struggling to understand what could have happened during the journey.

One longtime friend, Shelicka Decker, told a local television station that she had numerous questions about the circumstances surrounding the trip.

“I have so many questions,” Decker said, questioning how Brazille could have remained in the vehicle with Bradford after her death and what may have been going through his mind during the drive.

The unusual circumstances of the traffic stop have now become a major part of the investigation as authorities work to establish the timeline leading from Louisiana to Tennessee.

Friend Says Bradford Planned to Leave Her Husband

Decker said Bradford had been experiencing serious marital problems and was allegedly preparing to leave Brazille. According to the friend, Bradford had “come up with a plan” to disappear and separate herself from her husband.

Decker said Bradford intended to leave her vehicle and belongings behind and had been communicating with family members who lived out of town as she prepared to make the move.

“She was going to just vanish,” Decker told. “That was the only way she would be able to get away from him.”

Decker also alleged that Brazille had threatened to kill Bradford or himself if she attempted to leave him.

She described the relationship as abusive and said the situation had become increasingly concerning in the months before Bradford’s death.

Coworkers Reportedly Requested Welfare Check

Bradford worked at an elementary school, according to Decker. When she failed to show up for work for several days, her colleagues reportedly became concerned and requested a welfare check.

Decker said Bradford had previously spoken to her about Brazille’s behavior and alleged that physical abuse had begun relatively recently.

“He never put his hands on her up until recently, like maybe like two or three months ago,” Decker alleged.

The friend said she had previously imagined that Brazille might harm himself because of statements he allegedly made, but said she was shocked by the possibility that he had instead killed Bradford.

Murder Charge Expected in Louisiana

Brazille was scheduled to appear in court in Memphis and is expected to be extradited to Louisiana, where he will face a murder charge in connection with Bradford’s death.

The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against Brazille have not yet been established in a criminal trial. For Bradford’s friends, however, the circumstances surrounding her death have created profound grief.

Decker said she was struggling to reconcile the allegations with the person she believed she knew.

“It’s such an unfortunate situation,” she said, offering prayers to Bradford’s family and friends as well as Brazille’s relatives.

Describing Bradford, Decker added a simple tribute: “She was such a good person.”

The investigation is expected to focus on what happened before Bradford’s death, when and where the shooting occurred, and why Brazille allegedly traveled such a long distance with her body before police discovered her during the Memphis traffic stop.
