Chester, New Jersey — Authorities in New Jersey continue searching for answers after identifying a 35-year-old psychotherapist and new mother as the victim of a fatal stabbing inside her home, nearly a month after the deadly attack.
Investigators say Brooke Hanlon was found critically injured inside her Chester residence on June 6. Despite emergency lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Law enforcement officials have not announced any arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Emergency Crews Responded to Disturbing 911 Call
According to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, emergency responders were dispatched to Hanlon’s home at approximately 4:30 p.m. following a report of a woman in cardiac arrest.
Dispatch communications indicated the caller also reported that the victim had suffered a significant laceration.
When first responders arrived, someone at the residence was performing CPR in an effort to save Hanlon’s life. Despite those efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Morris County Medical Examiner later determined that Hanlon died from multiple sharp-force injuries, and officially ruled her death a homicide.
Investigation Continues With No Arrests Announced
Authorities have released very few details regarding the circumstances surrounding the killing. Investigators have not publicly identified a suspect or disclosed whether they believe the attack was targeted.
Officials emphasized that the investigation remains active and that limiting public information is necessary to preserve the integrity of the case.
“No further information can be released at this time in order to protect the integrity of the investigation,” the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
