Beverly Hills, California — One of Beverly Hills’ most recognizable celebrity dining destinations is preparing to serve its final meals after three decades in the city. Crustacean, the renowned Asian fusion restaurant known for its secret garlic noodle recipe, luxurious atmosphere, and signature koi fish aquarium walkway, is closing its longtime location, prompting emotional reactions from loyal customers and celebrity regulars.
Building Sale Forces Crustacean to Leave Longtime Home
Crustacean’s closure comes after the sale of the building at 468 N. Bedford Drive, just steps from the famous Rodeo Drive shopping district.
According to Elizabeth An, CEO of the family-owned House of An restaurant group, the decision was not voluntary. She explained that the property’s new owner has different plans for the building, plans that no longer fit the restaurant’s future.
The announcement marks the end of an era for a restaurant that has welcomed celebrities, business leaders, and longtime locals since opening its Beverly Hills location more than 30 years ago.
Celebrity Fans Flood Social Media With Emotional Reactions
News of the closure quickly spread across social media, where many of Crustacean’s famous customers shared heartfelt messages.
Model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen commented on the restaurant’s Instagram announcement, writing:
“I NEED TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE MOVING TO IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!”
The restaurant responded with reassurance, thanking Teigen for her years of support and promising to share details once a new location is confirmed.
Bozoma Saint John, a cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, reflected on the many celebrations she had enjoyed there.
“I’ve celebrated so many amazing milestones here. We’re honorary family members! And we’ll definitely come by before you close!”
Actor Lance Gross also expressed disappointment with a simple but emotional response:
“Nooooooooooooo.”
Their reactions echoed the feelings of countless longtime diners who have considered Crustacean a Beverly Hills institution.
Closing Date Extended After Overwhelming Support
The restaurant originally planned to close its doors on July 27.
However, following an outpouring of support from customers eager to enjoy one last meal, Crustacean announced that its final service had been extended through July 29.
The additional days allowed more guests to revisit the restaurant and celebrate its decades-long legacy before the Beverly Hills location officially closes.
Famous Garlic Noodles and Crab Built a Loyal Following
While Crustacean became known as a celebrity hotspot, its lasting reputation was built on its distinctive menu.
Among its most famous dishes are Chef Helene An’s legendary garlic noodles and roasted Dungeness crab, recipes that have attracted diners from across the country for years.
Combined with the restaurant’s upscale décor and unforgettable aquarium entrance, the dining experience became one of Beverly Hills’ signature culinary attractions.
Pop-Up Restaurants Planned While Owners Search for New Home
Although the Beverly Hills location is closing, the Crustacean brand is not disappearing.
The An family announced plans to operate temporary Crustacean pop-ups at its sister restaurants, Tiato Kitchen + Venue in Santa Monica and AnQi Bistro at South Coast Plaza through the end of the year.
Elizabeth An said the temporary locations will help bridge the transition while the family searches for a permanent new home.
Potential future locations reportedly include Calabasas and Pasadena. Meanwhile, fans can still visit Crustacean’s San Francisco location, which remains open as the restaurant begins its next chapter.
