Charlotte, North Carolina — A North Carolina man with a lengthy criminal record is back in custody after investigators say he posted videos of himself confronting and attacking women on social media, leading police directly to him.
Authorities allege the disturbing recordings captured separate incidents in which one woman was punched to the ground while another was chased through a neighborhood.
The case has sparked renewed concerns about repeat offenders and public safety in Charlotte.
Social Media Videos Led Police to the Suspect
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Di-Quan Schafar Hunt, 32, was arrested Thursday in connection with an alleged assault that occurred on July 30 in the 400 block of East Boulevard.
Police said officers became aware of the case after reviewing multiple videos posted to Hunt’s social media accounts, which allegedly documented confrontations with women in public.
Investigators said the footage played a key role in identifying and locating the suspect. Hunt was taken into custody at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday after officers located him in Charlotte.
Woman Allegedly Punched During Street Encounter
One of the videos reviewed by investigators reportedly showed Hunt confronting a woman who was carrying a get-well balloon.
According to police, Hunt became aggressive during the encounter before allegedly punching the woman, causing her to fall to the ground.
Authorities said the victim was left injured and later required hospital treatment.
Investigators also allege that after the woman fell, Hunt remained near her, shouted abusive language, damaged her sunglasses, kicked away the balloon she was carrying, and then fled the scene.
Police have not publicly identified the victim.
Separate Video Shows Another Woman Being Chased
Authorities said another video posted online appeared to capture a separate incident involving a different woman.
In that recording, Hunt is allegedly seen running toward a woman walking along a sidewalk before chasing her around a parked vehicle.
The woman managed to escape without being physically harmed, according to investigators. Police have not disclosed when that incident occurred but said it formed part of the evidence reviewed during the investigation.
Suspect Expected to Face Assault Charge
Following his arrest, Hunt was transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Officials have not disclosed why medical treatment was required, but said he is expected to be transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office after his release.
Police said he will face an assault-related charge in connection with the investigation. The case remains active, and authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges.
Long Criminal History Under Renewed Scrutiny
Court and jail records show Hunt has been arrested numerous times over the past several years on allegations including assault, trespassing, probation violations, domestic violence protective order violations, and weapons-related offenses.
Several earlier cases were dismissed, while others resulted in convictions and periods of incarceration.
Most recently, Hunt was convicted in March 2026 in connection with a December 2025 assault with a deadly weapon case. According to local reports, he received a sentence that was satisfied through credit for time already served while awaiting trial.
Police have not indicated whether Hunt was under any form of supervision at the time of the latest alleged assaults.
Authorities continue investigating the incidents as they review additional evidence and determine whether further charges are warranted.
