Big Bear, California — A family preparing to welcome their first child has been left grieving after 33-year-old Andy Paul Ferrarone died from injuries sustained during a rock climbing accident in Southern California. The tragedy has left his wife, Nina, who is approximately nine weeks pregnant, facing the emotional and financial reality of becoming a first-time parent without her husband by her side.
Rock Climbing Accident Turned a Family’s Future Upside Down
According to authorities, the accident occurred on July 12 while Ferrarone was rock climbing in the Big Bear area.
Officials said he fell approximately 20 feet, suffering severe head injuries that required emergency medical care. He remained on life support for several days before dying on July 15, according to his obituary and information shared by loved ones.
The sudden loss came just weeks after the couple learned they were expecting their first child, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking for family and friends.
Pregnant Wife Now Preparing for Parenthood Alone
Following Andy Ferrarone’s death, relatives launched a GoFundMe campaign to help support Nina during the difficult months ahead.

As of July 28, the fundraiser had collected more than $45,000 toward its $65,000 goal.
