Biddeford, Maine — A 9-year-old boy is recovering after suffering serious burn injuries when the dirt bike he was riding suddenly caught fire following a crash in a parking lot. Investigators say the incident happened after the bike struck a curb, causing a gasoline leak that quickly ignited and left the child with severe burns.
Child Seriously Injured After Dirt Bike Tips Over
According to local authorities, the incident occurred on Sunday, July 26, in Biddeford, Maine, where the child was riding a small dirt bike in a parking lot.
Officials said the bike hit a curb and tipped over, setting off a chain of events that quickly turned dangerous. During the fall, a flash fire erupted, engulfing parts of the dirt bike and causing significant burn injuries to the young rider.
