North Lauderdale, Florida — A South Florida community is mourning the loss of a young child after a 4-year-old boy died following a pool-related incident at a home in North Lauderdale on Friday morning.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO), emergency dispatchers received a call shortly after 10 a.m. reporting a possible drowning involving a young child at a residence in the area of Southwest 63rd Terrace.
First responders rushed to the scene in an effort to save the boy, but despite emergency medical treatment, the child later died at a local hospital.
Emergency Crews Responded to Possible Drowning Call
Authorities said 911 dispatchers received the call at approximately 10:08 a.m. regarding a child found in a swimming pool at a home near the 1600 block of Southwest 63rd Terrace.
BSO deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel quickly responded to the residence and began emergency efforts.
The boy was transported to Broward Health Coral Springs, where medical teams continued treatment. However, officials later confirmed that the child was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not publicly released the child’s identity.
The heartbreaking incident drew a large emergency response to the neighborhood as investigators worked to gather information about what occurred.
