Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania — Authorities are investigating the deaths of two adults after police made a heartbreaking discovery inside a Pennsylvania home, where two toddlers had apparently survived alone for about two days before help arrived.
The children, ages 1 and 3, were found alive inside the residence after officers discovered the bodies of their mother and her former boyfriend. Investigators say the circumstances surrounding the deaths remain a mystery.
Police Found Two Adults Dead Inside the Home
According to the Allegheny County Police Department, officers responded to a home on Franklin Avenue in Wilkinsburg on Monday, Aug. 3, where they discovered 31-year-old Lamara Baldwin and 42-year-old Lamont Dunlap deceased inside the residence.
Based on evidence at the scene, investigators believe the two adults may have died around July 31, meaning the young children had likely been alone in the home for approximately two days before they were found.
Authorities have not released details about what prompted officers to respond to the residence.
Toddlers Survived Alone for Days
Police said the 1-year-old and 3-year-old children were found alive despite having remained inside the home with the deceased adults.
The toddlers were removed from the residence and placed into the care of Child and Youth Services, where officials say they will remain while the investigation continues.
Authorities have not publicly released information about the children’s medical condition but confirmed they survived the ordeal. The case has shocked the local community because of the amount of time the children were left alone before they were discovered.

In the days before her death, Lamara Baldwin had spoken publicly during a Facebook livestream about personal struggles and feeling overwhelmed.
