Apple Valley, California — A Southern California family is mourning an unimaginable loss after a pregnant mother expecting twins was killed in a devastating crash that authorities say happened when another driver allegedly ran a stop sign.
The victim, Lorena Lopez, was traveling in her 2021 Nissan Altima with her two young children on Saturday when a 25-year-old driver allegedly failed to stop at an intersection and crashed into her vehicle in Apple Valley, located in San Bernardino County.
The violent impact claimed the lives of Lopez and her unborn twins, while her two children survived despite suffering severe injuries.
Pregnant Mother Was Expecting a Baby Boy and Girl
According to family members, Lopez was five months pregnant with twins—a baby boy and a baby girl—at the time of the collision.

The fundraiser aims to help the family manage expenses while caring for the surviving children and honoring Lopez’s memory.

Although the crash proved fatal for Lopez and her unborn babies, her two young children survived the devastating wreck. Both children sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized following the collision.
