Passengers at NYC’s LaGuardia Airport Shocked After Multiple Mice Are Spotted Running Under Chairs at Boarding Gate

Queens, New York — Travelers waiting to board their flights at LaGuardia Airport got an unexpected distraction Sunday when mice were reportedly spotted racing around the boarding area.

Passenger Lindsey Powers was waiting in Terminal B when she noticed rodents moving through the seating area. Instead of simply seeing one mouse, Powers said she ultimately spotted four mice, although she was only able to record two of them.

Video shared by Powers with Storyful appears to show the rodents running around and disappearing underneath passenger chairs as travelers waited nearby.

The unexpected sighting quickly turned an ordinary airport waiting area into a scene of surprise for passengers.

Traveler Says Mouse Came Right Up to Her

Powers told Storyful that one of the mice came particularly close to her.

“One came up to me and was snacking on something,” she said.

The footage shows the rodents moving quickly across the floor and underneath chairs, seemingly unfazed by the travelers surrounding them.

For passengers preparing to board flights, the appearance of multiple mice was certainly not the type of airport activity anyone expected to see.

The video also gave other travelers a glimpse of the unusual scene as the rodents darted around the boarding area.

Airport Had Not Responded to Questions

It was not immediately clear how the mice entered the terminal, how long they had been in the boarding area or whether airport personnel had taken action after the sightings were reported.

The presence of rodents in an airport can raise obvious questions about cleanliness and food sources, particularly in busy passenger areas where travelers regularly eat and discard food.

However, the available information does not establish the source of the mice or indicate whether the sighting represented a broader problem at the airport.

LaGuardia Has Seen Another Animal Surprise

This isn’t the first time an unexpected animal has caused a stir at LaGuardia. Back in 2024, a raccoon was filmed creating its own airport adventure after reportedly appearing near a Spirit Airlines gate.

The animal was captured hanging from the ceiling before eventually scurrying around the airport, prompting screams from startled passengers.

That incident quickly became a memorable example of the unusual situations that can unfold inside a busy airport. Now, the latest rodent sighting has added another strange chapter to LaGuardia’s collection of unexpected animal encounters.

Passengers Left With an Unusual Boarding Story

For Powers and the other travelers who witnessed the mice, the experience was certainly memorable.

Instead of spending their waiting time watching the departure board or preparing to board their flights, passengers found themselves watching multiple mice race beneath their chairs.

While the airport has yet to publicly comment on the sighting, the video provides a glimpse of the unusual scene that unfolded inside Terminal B.

For the passengers who were there, it was an airport delay in attention rather than a flight — and one they are unlikely to forget anytime soon.
