Sunny Isles Beach, Florida — A successful businessman and reality television personality from Los Angeles died after falling from the 28th floor of a luxury beachfront resort in South Florida, leaving investigators searching for answers and loved ones questioning what happened in the moments before his death.
Authorities identified the man as Yakir Levi, 45, who had been staying at the Acqualina Resort and Residences in Sunny Isles Beach. The incident occurred Monday night as Levi was reportedly preparing to meet friends for an evening out.
Final Text Sent Moments Before the Fall
According to friends, Levi had arranged to meet two companions at the resort.
As they arrived at the valet area, Levi sent them a brief text message that read:
“I’m coming.”
According to reports, only moments later they heard a loud crash, while guests nearby began shouting that someone had fallen from a balcony.
Emergency crews responded quickly, but Levi was pronounced dead at the scene.
The timing of the message has left friends struggling to understand how the evening took such a tragic turn.
Family and Friends Dispute Suicide Speculation
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Homicide Bureau is investigating the incident as an unclassified death after detectives recovered Levi’s cellphone and personal belongings.
While an initial police report reportedly referenced the incident as a “Suicide w/injuries,” authorities have not announced a final determination regarding the cause or manner of death.
Levi’s relatives and close friends have strongly rejected speculation that he intentionally took his own life, saying his behavior in the days leading up to the incident gave them no reason to believe he was in crisis.
“They were all meeting up to go out. It just doesn’t make any sense,” close friend Eran Hersh told the Daily Mail.
He added:
“It’s impossible for me to think that he just committed suicide. The day before he was on a boat smoking a cigar, having the time of his life.”
From Humble Beginnings to Television Success
Friends described Levi as a charismatic entrepreneur who previously served in the Israel Defense Forces’ special forces before moving to the United States.
Born in Ramla, Israel, Levi reportedly arrived in America with only a few hundred dollars before building a successful property restoration company specializing in repairing buildings damaged by natural disasters.
His journey from modest beginnings to business success later earned him a place on Israel’s Channel 13 reality series “The Americans,” a program that followed Israeli expatriates pursuing opportunities in the United States.
Levi is survived by his wife and three children, ages 4, 10 and 12. According to reports, he is expected to be buried in Israel.
Investigation Continues
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to reports of a man falling from the high-rise resort at approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday.
Authorities say the investigation remains active, and officials have not released a final ruling on the circumstances surrounding Levi’s death.
Investigators are continuing to review evidence as they work to determine exactly what happened before the fatal fall.
