A Devastating Fire Shut It Down for 11 Months—Now This Popular Rocky Hill Restaurant Is Finally Back

Rocky Hill, Connecticut — Nearly a year after a devastating fire forced it to shut its doors, a beloved family-owned restaurant in Rocky Hill has officially welcomed customers back, marking an emotional milestone for both the owners and the loyal community that stood behind them throughout the rebuilding process.

The restaurant reopened on Thursday after spending 11 months undergoing extensive renovations following a fire that heavily damaged the building. For longtime customers, the reopening represented more than just another place to eat—it marked the return of a local favorite that many had missed for nearly a year.

Fire Forced Restaurant to Rebuild From the Ground Up

The fire broke out last year after a laundry machine caught fire, causing significant damage throughout the restaurant.

Photos taken after the incident showed the extent of the destruction, leaving the owners with little choice but to completely rebuild the business from the inside out.

Owner and chef Brendon Stock recalled the shock of arriving to see firefighters battling the blaze.

“The panic when you come down the street and you see the fire department, it was like, ‘Oh my God.’ It was bad. It was bad,” Stock said.

Rather than making minor repairs, the team began a full-scale reconstruction, redesigning much of the restaurant while preparing for a fresh start.

Nearly a Year of Challenges Before Reopening

Stock said rebuilding the restaurant proved to be a long and challenging process.

The team had to renovate the entire interior, install new equipment, learn an updated operating system and make adjustments to the menu before reopening could become a reality.

Throughout the closure, the absence of regular customers was one of the hardest parts of the journey.

“We have such a good relationship with the community and a lot of our regulars are people who have been coming here for years,” Stock said.

Despite the lengthy process, the owners remained committed to reopening and bringing the restaurant back stronger than before.

Loyal Customers Celebrate the Restaurant’s Return

The reopening attracted a steady lunch crowd, with many longtime patrons saying they had been eagerly waiting for the business to return.

Some customers even joked about wanting to help speed up the rebuilding process because they missed the restaurant so much.

“We’ve been suffering. I told them I’d get in the back and work on construction to help them get it done quicker,” joked Chris Parsons of Wethersfield.

The enthusiastic response highlighted the strong connection the restaurant has built with the local community over the years.

Owners Ask for Patience During Transition

Although the restaurant is once again serving guests, Stock said the team is still adjusting to its newly renovated space and updated operations.

For now, the restaurant is not accepting reservations or offering takeout service while employees become familiar with the new workflow.

Even with those temporary changes, Stock emphasized that customers can still expect the same welcoming atmosphere and quality meals they have always enjoyed.

“We’re happy to be open again. It’s been a long time coming,” Stock said.

After nearly a year of rebuilding and overcoming unexpected setbacks, the restaurant’s reopening stands as a testament to the determination of its owners and the unwavering support of the Rocky Hill community.
