Van Zandt County, Texas — A North Texas school employee has been arrested on a felony child sex crime charge after law enforcement officers executed a warrant issued out of Dallas County, according to the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities announced that Larry Plant, who serves as the Maintenance Director for Martin’s Mill Independent School District (ISD), was taken into custody on Tuesday during a coordinated operation involving local deputies and the Texas Attorney General’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit.
Arrest Made on Felony Warrant
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators served a felony arrest warrant for Plant without incident. Officials said he has been charged with Indecency with a Child – Sexual Contact, a charge that stems from Dallas County.
Authorities have not released additional details about the allegations, including the age of the alleged victim, when the alleged offense occurred, or whether the case has any connection to the school district.
The investigation remains ongoing.
School District Responds to Employee’s Arrest
Following the arrest, Martin’s Mill ISD confirmed that district officials had been notified of the situation.
In a statement shared on social media, the district said it is fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities as the investigation continues.
School officials did not release additional information regarding Plant’s employment status or whether any administrative action has been taken following the arrest.
The district has also not indicated whether the allegations are connected to any students or school property.
Sheriff Highlights Cooperation Between Agencies
Van Zandt County Sheriff Kevin Bridger praised the coordination between multiple law enforcement agencies that led to the arrest.
“This arrest is another example of the working relationships between law enforcement agencies and our local institutions,” Sheriff Kevin Bridger said. “By working together, we remain committed to protecting our community and ensuring those accused of serious crimes are taken into custody safely and professionally.”
Officials said the operation was conducted jointly with the Texas Attorney General’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit, which assists in locating and arresting individuals wanted on felony warrants.

At this time, authorities have not announced whether additional charges are expected or released further information about the underlying investigation.
As with all criminal cases, the charge against Plant is an allegation, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
