Jackson, Mississippi — Authorities are searching for an armed suspect after a devastating triple homicide claimed the lives of two women and a 2-year-old child inside a Jackson home, leaving a community in mourning and investigators racing to locate the person responsible.
Police responded to reports of an aggravated assault late Saturday night and instead encountered one of the city’s deadliest crime scenes of the year.
Officials described the attack as a heartbreaking act of violence that has deeply affected the community.
Three Victims Found With Multiple Gunshot Wounds
According to the Jackson Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Queen Alexandria Lane at approximately 10:10 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of an aggravated assault.
When officers arrived, they discovered three victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the residence.
All three were pronounced dead.
Jackson Police Chief RaShall Brackney said the victims included two women in their twenties and a toddler, describing the crime scene as horrific.
“We have three — a triple homicide here, two young women in their 20s and a toddler,” Brackney said.
He later called the killings a “heinous crime.”
Victims Identified by Authorities
The victims were later identified as:
- Keyana Weathersby, 25
- Erica Weathersby, 30
- Camari Givens, 2
According to the Hinds County Coroner, all three suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Officials said Keyana Weathersby was the mother of Camari Givens, while Erica Weathersby was the child’s aunt. Police have not publicly released additional information regarding a possible motive.
Police Searching for Armed Suspect
Authorities say the suspect remains at large and should be considered armed and dangerous. Investigators said the individual is believed to be driving a red 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage displaying Mississippi license plate HSI 205.
Law enforcement agencies continue searching for both the suspect and the vehicle. Chief Brackney condemned the violence during a media briefing.
“Whoever did this is an absolute coward. … You killed a toddler as well as the child’s mother and another person in that home.”
Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the Jackson Police Department immediately.
Community Mourns Devastating Loss
Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones also addressed the tragedy, describing the killings as a heartbreaking loss for the entire community.
In a public statement, he offered condolences to the victims’ loved ones.
“Today, our community is grieving. Two women and an innocent toddler were taken from us in an act of violence that words can barely hold.”
He also assured the family they would not face their grief alone.
“You are not alone. The weight you are carrying tonight is shared by an entire community that aches with you.”
Investigation Remains Active
According to local officials, the three deaths represent the 41st, 42nd, and 43rd homicides recorded in Jackson this year. Authorities also said the incident is believed to be the city’s deadliest single homicide event of the year.
Detectives continue gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and searching for the suspect as the investigation remains ongoing.
Police have not announced any arrests.
As investigators continue working to identify and locate the person responsible, family members and community leaders are remembering three lives tragically cut short in an act of violence that has shaken Jackson.
