Davenport, Florida — A family vacation ended in tragedy after a 5-year-old boy was found unresponsive at the bottom of a swimming pool at an Airbnb rental in Central Florida. Authorities say the child was rushed to the hospital after deputies performed lifesaving measures, but he was later pronounced dead, prompting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drowning.

According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an Airbnb property on Takeaway Way in Davenport shortly after 1 p.m. following reports that a child had been discovered at the bottom of a swimming pool.
When deputies arrived, they found the 5-year-old boy unconscious and immediately began performing CPR while awaiting emergency medical personnel.
Fire and rescue crews continued lifesaving efforts before transporting the child to Celebration Hospital, where doctors later pronounced him dead.
Officials identified the child as a resident of Brevard County but have not publicly released his name.
