Washington, D.C. — Federal safety officials are urging parents and caregivers to immediately stop using certain baby loungers sold on Amazon after expanding an earlier recall over a potential suffocation hazard that could place infants at risk of serious injury or death.
The latest action adds additional products to an earlier recall announced this year, increasing the number of affected loungers that fail to meet mandatory federal safety standards.
Recall Expanded to Include Additional Baby Loungers
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recall of Cpzzkq Baby Loungers sold by CetoPMax has been expanded.
Earlier this year, the recall covered loungers sold in white, grayish blue, pink, zuma blue, and brown.
On July 30, the CPSC added 195 additional baby loungers sold in green and purple to the recall. The newly recalled products are labeled “Model No: UMCBD01.”
Why Are the Baby Loungers Being Recalled?
The CPSC said the products do not comply with the mandatory federal safety standard for infant support cushions.
According to the agency, the foam padding inside the loungers can obstruct an infant’s breathing, creating a serious suffocation hazard. Because of that risk, officials are advising families not to continue using the product under any circumstances.
Although no injuries or incidents have been reported, the recall was issued as a preventive safety measure to reduce the risk of future harm.
How to Identify the Recalled Product
Parents should check whether they own a Cpzzkq Baby Lounger with the following characteristics:
- Rectangular-shaped baby lounger
- Foam pad with a removable cloth cover
- “CPZZKQ” printed on the side label
- Green or purple color with “Model No: UMCBD01” (newly added recall)
- Previously recalled colors include white, grayish blue, pink, zuma blue, and brown
The affected loungers were sold on Amazon between May and June and retailed for approximately $30 to $50.
What Parents Should Do Next
The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled baby loungers. To receive a refund, customers should contact CetoPMax and follow the company’s disposal instructions.
Consumers will be asked to:
- Remove the foam pad from the fabric cover
- Cut the cover, foam, and padding in half
- Take photographs of the destroyed product
- Email the photos to the company to request a refund
The seller has instructed customers to submit images of the destroyed lounger to [email protected] before the refund can be processed.
Safety Officials Urge Parents to Act Promptly
The expanded recall highlights the importance of ensuring infant sleep and support products meet federal safety requirements.
Even though no injuries have been linked to these loungers, safety experts encourage parents and caregivers to check recalled product lists regularly and remove any affected items from use immediately to help reduce the risk of preventable injuries.
