San Jose, California — A San Jose man is facing murder and stalking charges after prosecutors say he fatally attacked his estranged wife following months of alleged harassment, surveillance, and unwanted contact.
Authorities allege that 46-year-old Pablo Aguileramora carried out the deadly attack on Maria Liliana Vanegas Parra, 45, despite earlier legal action that included stalking allegations and a protective order intended to keep her safe.
The case has shocked the local community and highlighted ongoing concerns about stalking behavior and domestic violence-related crimes.
Woman Found With Multiple Stab Wounds
According to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, officers responded to reports of an attack at a San Jose residence on June 11.
When police arrived, they found Parra suffering from multiple stab wounds. Aguileramora was also located at the scene with what investigators believe was a self-inflicted stab wound.
Both individuals were transported to a hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, Parra later died from her injuries.
Prosecutors said investigators learned that in her final moments, Parra identified Aguileramora as the person responsible for the attack. Authorities also allege that the suspect threatened a witness who contacted emergency services.
Prior Stalking Allegations Revealed
As investigators examined the case, they uncovered a series of earlier incidents involving the couple.
According to prosecutors, Aguileramora had been charged with stalking in March after allegedly engaging in a pattern of behavior directed toward Parra.
Officials claim he slashed her vehicle tires, repeatedly appeared at her workplace, and attempted to secure employment at the same location where she worked.
Investigators also allege that he attached three tracking devices to her vehicle and sent her more than 100 text messages and voicemails.
The allegations led Parra to obtain an emergency protective order against him. Despite those legal measures, prosecutors say the harassment continued.
Family Remembers a Loving Mother
As the criminal case moves forward, family and friends are remembering Parra for the life she lived rather than the tragedy that ended it.
Loved ones described her as a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time at the beach, sharing meaningful conversations with friends, and bringing positivity to those around her.
A fundraising campaign established to support her family and help return her remains to her native Colombia paints a picture of a woman deeply loved by those who knew her.

Friends and family have continued sharing memories and tributes while mourning her loss.
Murder and Stalking Charges Filed
The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office has formally charged Aguileramora with murder and stalking. Officials have not publicly disclosed whether he has entered a plea in the case.
Court records confirm his earlier arrest connected to the stalking allegations, although additional details regarding those proceedings were not immediately available.
If convicted, Aguileramora could face significant prison time. The case remains under investigation as prosecutors continue gathering evidence and preparing for future court proceedings.
Case Highlights Risks Associated With Stalking
Advocates say stalking behaviors such as repeated unwanted contact, monitoring movements, workplace appearances, and the use of tracking devices can be warning signs of escalating danger.
The allegations outlined in this case have prompted renewed discussion about how protective orders are enforced and how victims can be better protected when harassment continues.
As family members seek justice for Parra, many hope the case will also raise awareness about the importance of recognizing and responding to stalking behaviors before they escalate into violence.
