The boys’ swim and dive team has reached the halfway point of their season, most recently placing fifth out of 17 teams at the Jan. 11 Bulldog Invite. Senior Evan Zimbelman earned second place with a score of 371.40 points.
The team has an strong senior class, mostly made up of swimmers who have been in the program for all four years.
Senior Sully Hunt has seen the team grow over the past four years. “We’ve tried to develop a better culture for the team and do more team bonding,” he said, “which has made it a lot more fun.”
Hunt, along with seniors Carter Tamblingson and Ben Hosack are the captains this year.
Tamblingson said that “at the end of the season, I kind of miss it.” He said he is “hoping to join a swim club in college,” so he can continue enjoying his sport.
Senior Victor Hofmann joined the team this year although he did not have experience swimming competitively. “If you get past the part that sucks,” he said, “you’re kind of fine.” He said he enjoys swimming the 50 and 100 free.
