Senior Hope Kittel spends her time filling the lives of others with joy through the nonprofit organization she created, Baskets Spreading Hope.
Kittel created her nonprofit started in April 2022, and its impact has grown immensely. Each basket consists of small toys and comfort items which are delivered to local children’s hospitals.
“Spreading hope is caring for each other. The focal point is really cool,” Kittel said.
Outside of Baskets Spreading Hope, Kittel spends her time golfing, baking and volunteering at Mr. Bob’s Under the Bridge, a local nonprofit. She has spent over four years helping the organization with their donations.
Local news channel TMJ4 aired a segment on Kittel’s experience with the VertaCat, an adaptive machine that allows her to stand and navigate the golf course.
Kittel said, “It’s incredible to be able to do the things (play golf) I love again.”
Freshman Francis Milton is a classmate of Kittel’s. “I just met Hope this year,” Milton said, “and she’s already one of my favorite people I’ve ever met.”
