Twenty students and two chaperones are planning a trip to Switzerland and France over spring break.
To begin their nearly two-week trip, the group will depart from Chicago’s O’Hare airport and fly to Geneva, Switzerland. They will then take a 45-minute bus ride to Annecy, France, where they are going to live with their host families for nine days.
Students will attend school with their hosts, who are also their current penpals.
Excursions to Lyon, France and back to Geneva, Switzerland are also on the itinerary.
The students have planned to spend the last three days of the trip in Paris. Students will have a set amount of hours to go around and explore throughout the day, according to World Language teacher Danielle Schoenwetter.
“It’s been five years since we’ve been able to go,” she said.
Junior Marin Halvorsen is looking forward to many aspects of the trip. “I could definitely see it dictating whether I want to take French in college or not,” she said.
Some popular places that students liked going to in the past include the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the French Alps.
“I would just say to really try to take it all in,” Schoenwetter said.
2019 graduate Anja Luzney attended the last trip. She said, “One thing I will always remember about that trip was that a fire broke out in the Notre Dame Cathedral. We were the last people to go on a group tour before they closed it down.”
