After having her three children graduate from here within the past 10 years, math teacher Kathleen O’Connell changed roles from being a parent of high school students to being a teacher of high school students.
O’Connell grew up in Milwaukee, and after college she moved to Cedarburg, where she has lived ever since. She said she enjoys living here because she “just really likes how nice everyone is.”
Prior to this year, O’Connell taught at Nicolet High School and Brown Deer High School, for a total of approximately 30 years in education.
She said she has always enjoyed math, which earned her a scholarship to UW-Milwaukee, where she obtained her bachelors and master’s degrees in teaching.
She teaches all levels of Geometry and said she is excited to teach her favorite subject.
O’Connell likes to emphasize the importance of geometry. She said, “you’ll need Geometry in law school.” In addition, “it is the most common form of math on the ACT.”
When she isn’t teaching, she finds time to enjoy running, reading and hanging out with her friends.
