Family and consumer science teacher Dyan Lasar graduated from UW-Stout with a B.S. in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism and a M.S. in Career and Technical Education.
Lasar graduated from here in 2003. “I never thought I’d come back and teach,” she said, but she is “so excited to be at Cedarburg. It’s fun to have Bulldog pride again.” She said she wanted to come back to share her interests with others.
Lasar said that the biggest change since she was a student is the size of the school.
She has worked at many places including hotels, Caribou Coffee, and her family’s restaurant.
Lasar’s dad was a chef, which is one reason why she believes she loves the culinary arts. Lasar looks up to her dad and said that he “taught me my work ethic and how to love food.”
She said that she “loves making curriculum for culinary classes.”
Outside of school, Lasar is married and has two sons. She and her husband love to go bird watching. She enjoys reading and traveling to try foods from different restaurants. Lasar loves teaching how to make French sauces, and her favorite meal to make at home is called “black pepper chicken.”
Lasar says that “this school has been really welcoming, and the students have been amazing.” She hopes to stay here for the long term.
