Snow day delays Mamma Mia!
The cast and crew of Mamma Mia! need to wait one more night to hear “Thank You For The Music” from the audience after Thursday’s opening night performance was canceled because of the snowstorm.
“Dancing Queen” fans can see the production Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the CPAC. A matinee will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at the CPAC Box Office. The ticket price for students and senior citizens is $8, and adult tickets are $12.
Preparations for this production have gone smoothly, according to director Kristen Mickie, who has been the theatre director for eight years. “The students have been engaged and focused,” she said.
Senior Katie O’Connor, who plays Donna Sheridan, said, “I think it’s going great, but I am disappointed that there was no show on Thursday due to the weather.”
“We’ve got a really solid cast, (and) a really solid crew with many senior leads who have experience,” Technical/Design director Christopher Behrs said. ““I think the show is going to be very good.”
Behrs said his personal favorite part of the set is the dock that they built. The wood they found at a resale store was from a previous deck, he said, and it had to be cleaned. Behrs said the build team usually has to make the set pieces look old, but this time, they actually had to sand peeling paint off the wood.
“All in all, we did a pretty successful looking Greek set,” Behrs said.
Sophomore Sharon Chumlea, who plays Donna’s daughter, Sophie Sheridan, said, “It is going really well. I am extremely proud of everyone in the cast, crew and orchestra.”
