The boys’ basketball team finished the regular season last night with a 79-33 win against Grafton.
With last night’s win, the team ended the season with a 16-7 record overall. After starting the season with alternating wins and losses, a strong 88-61 win over Hartford Feb. 14 gave the team the boost they needed, propelling them into a five-game winning streak.
Now with the season over, the team is in full playoff preparation mode.

A prominent leader on the team is senior guard Griffin French. Averaging 8.6 points per game and ranking second on the team in rebounds with 5.3 per game, he is a real threat on the court.
Heading into the playoffs, French said the team is working on “late game scenarios and game situations.” He said that since the team could face rival Nicolet during the first round of playoffs, they want to make sure they are in perfect condition.
French credits the team’s success to hard work and dedication, stating the thing that motivates him the most is the punishment of running. “If you play badly, then you have to run,” he said. “Try not to run.”
Running isn’t the only thing motivating him, he said. “Being with friends and the team dinners” are another aspect of the program that keeps him going throughout the season.
The team will play their first playoff game next Friday at 7 p.m. at home against the winner of the Mar. 4 game between Port Washington and Grafton.
